The scheme has specific criteria against which a solicitor is measured and assessed. Successful applicants must demonstrate wide knowledge and experience in the areas of law covered; awareness of ethical issues; demonstration of professional skills such as negotiation, and specialist skills such as utilising expert witnesses.
“This appointment is a great personal achievement for me and helps set me apart from other personal injury lawyers. I’m already recognised by APIL and there are even fewer personal injury lawyers around who have both accreditations,” said Rachel.

The Law Society identifies a competent practitioner as ‘a practitioner who can identify and advise on a wide range of personal injury and related issues and who does not perform work that is outside of his/her current knowledge, skills and expertise’.
The Personal Injury Accreditation Scheme covers all work undertaken by solicitors and Fellows of the Institute of Legal Executives (FILEX).
