Gloucestershire, UK (14th February 2013) – G4S Technology, a leading provider of building security systems, has installed the new Symmetry Version 7 Security Management System at The National Library of Scotland.
The National Library of Scotland is Scotland’s largest library housing around 15 million printed items, including approximately two million maps, across two sites – Causewayside and their prestigious George IV Bridge Building, located in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town.
The Library contacted G4S Technology because they were looking to re-assess and install additional Access Control across these two locations. G4S Technology worked closely with the Library to address their challenges and developed a bespoke solution that would meet their current needs whilst being robust and flexible enough to adapt to changing requirements. The major extension to their Access Control took place last year and this year the Library was one of the first sites in the UK to be upgraded to Symmetry Version 7.
Symmetry Version 7 offers the very latest in building security management technologies. The new software has been designed and developed to expand the Symmetry Security Management System from the traditional Access Control and Video Management solution into a complete Security platform capable of managing all site security functions via a single interface.
Mark Lamb, Head of Security, The National Library of Scotland, said;
“We made the decision to go with G4S Technology’s Symmetry Security Management System Version 7 because we were really impressed with how user-friendly it was. The system has provided us with the ability to manage the movement of numerous people around very complex buildings and is easily modified to our ever-changing needs. We were also extremely keen to take advantage of Technology’s current promotional offer of free internal IP cameras, allowing us to fully utilize the system’s capability of Access Control and Video Management integration.”
Stewart Angell, UK Managing Director, G4S Technology, added;
“By taking advantage of our most recent promotional offer, the installation of IP cameras completely free of charge, the Library will see how Video Management can easily be integrated into the system, delivering immediate benefits by enhancing security and mitigating risks.”
