Gloucestershire, UK (19th November 2012) – G4S Technology, a leading provider of building security systems to public and private sector organizations, has been awarded a contract to provide a new smartcard system for thousands of students and staff at Newcastle University.
Currently, there are approximately 37,000 access control smartcards being used every day by Newcastle’s staff and students, for everything from access to buildings, car parks, bedrooms, and lifts, to personal identification, borrowing library books, photocopying, and use of the sports center.
The new system is to be designed, installed, and maintained by G4S and will be in operation from December 2012.
