Leicester, United Kingdom, (15th November, 2011) – Morningside Pharmacy, a registered UK pharmacy providing medical and cosmetic products, has launched a flu vaccination service in selected branches and begun stocking cold and flu products in preparation for the winter season.
Flu (influenza) is a highly infectious illness that spreads rapidly through the coughs and sneezes of people who are carrying the virus. Flu symptoms can hit quite suddenly and severely in all age groups. Doctors are urging people in at-risk groups to get vaccinated against flu – these include pregnant women, people aged over 65, people with long-term illnesses and healthcare workers. These people will normally be eligible for a free flu vaccination through their doctor’s surgery.
However, for those who are not eligible for this, Morningside Pharmacy has launched its flu vaccination service at selected Leicester and Northampton branches. This year’s seasonal flu vaccination also includes a vaccine to protect against swine flu. The vaccination is administered in a private consultation room by one of Morningside Pharmacy’s trained pharmacists and there is a charge for this service.
With winter only just around the corner, Morningside Pharmacy has also made available an extensive range of products to help keep those nasty cold and flu viruses at bay. Colds and flu affect 15 million people each year in the UK and the products the pharmacy has on offer include cough mixtures, decongestants and throat soothing lozenges.
