SEO Creative launched a new site today, to help promote local businesses in Altrincham.
When Media Pro UK, holding company for SEO Creative, moved to Altrincham in March 2011 they were surprised to see the once bustling high streets with empty shops and closed down businesses.
Frustratingly labelled a ‘Ghost town’, Altrincham was once a thriving town, rich in culture, retail and property but various factors have resulted in shops closing and negativity about the area.
Last year, Media Pro UK decided to give back to the local community, as an employer, they already provides jobs in the local area but they wanted to do more to help get Altrincham thriving. Sticking to what they know, they decided the best way to help Altrincham using their skills was to create a website dedicated to news and events in the region and provide a hub for people to quickly find Altrincham businesses and shop locally.
The site is threefold; one aspect is to keep people updated on news from the region, there is a directory and featured businesses section to show case independent and local retailers and businesses as well as not for profit organisations. And last but not least the site will try to encourage tourism with local events, all initiatives to bring more money into the economy and help the area grow.
Sadie Sherran of Media Pro UK says;
“We are excited to be able to help the Altrincham community, the site has taken a long time to develop as we wanted to get the tone right and build something that business, residents and visitors would want to use on a regular basis.”
The site is to be regularly updated with news and events in the region written up by SEO Creative’s content writers.
Sadie adds;
“We hope that as we are providing a service to feature businesses as well as updating the site with news and events, that it will become a hub for people in Altrincham to go to when deciding what to do and where to shop”
To prepare for the website going live, Visit Altrincham started with a Social Media push in March with Facebook, Twitter, Google plus and Pinterest and have received some great feedback from the local community.
The site has gone live shortly after news that Altrincham lost the Mary Portas bid, a £100,000 investment into the area and the expertise of shopping consultant Mary Portas.
Using in house designers, developers, photographers and social media management the site will continue to grow and promises more and more opportunities to the directory members as the site evolves.
