Essex, United Kingdom (19th November 2012) – Simply Academy, a leading provider of financial advisor training, has commented on recent changes to CeMAP training outlined in the Mortgage Market Review.
The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has just published its final rules for mortgage sellers following the Mortgage Market Review, with the main rule being that it is removing the non-advised sales process. This means that those sales were done face to face or over the phone must be ‘advised’ sales from April 2014.
This rule means that any company selling mortgage products that currently employs people in non-advisory roles – i.e. working within call centers, etc. – will have to train existing staff up to CeMAP standard and ensure new recruits are also CeMAP-qualified. Current non-advisory roles are already being phased out within larger corporations to comply with the regulations when they come into force.
A spokesperson for Simply Academy commented: “This change to the rules by the Financial Services Authority is very significant as it means that companies in this sector are going to have to rethink the structure of their workforce. It may well require a good deal of training for many and will mean that those looking for a job in that field will need to ensure they have completed the training before applying for a role. Therefore, obtaining the qualification before seeking opportunities within the field is more important than ever.
“This is good news for the customer, however, as it means that they will always be dealing with people who are fully qualified to offer them assistance at every stage of the process rather than just being passed from pillar to post before they can find the information they need. Here at Simply Academy, we provide the requisite CeMAP training and can ensure you are fully trained in the area to give you the skills you need to get ahead in the industry. Although the new rules don’t come into force until 2014, it pays to get a headstart to enable you to stay ahead of others also looking for similar positions.”
