The day is a busy one, and starts early – there are local dignitaries in Victorian clothing who sit on the steps of the Town Hall eating a hearty breakfast, braving the chilling temperatures. The official opening of the Extravaganza sees the bands start up – the Scottish Pipe Band, the Hungerford Town Band and Phoenix Band, bringing the evening to life and getting everyone in the mood for a very merry Christmas!
The streets bustle with entertainment in the form of Punch and Judy shows, stilt walkers, clowns, jugglers and of course Father Christmas! The shops will be open with their employees dressed in Victorian dress and even serving mulled wine and mince pies to their customers! A great way to kick off the festive period!
