England 6/1/2013 – When the Volvo V40 was launched, it caused a stir, and even today, its great looks make it stand out from the crowd
The Volvo V40 has only been available since it was unveiled at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. It went on sale in much of Europe in May, but UK buyers had to wait until August to buy theirs. This means that there are still not that many running around on the UK’s roads, and so is a car most people notice. Right now, it literally is turning heads.
It is the last Volvo to be designed by the, very popular, British designer Peter Horbury. He has moved to Volvo’s parent company Geely. Without a doubt, his last Volvo is his best. The car is remarkably sleek and has a high-class, sophisticated look and feel. It is pitched to compete with the smaller Mercedes cars, such as the A and C class and other small luxury cars. It certainly delivers in build quality with many car journalists commenting on the stylish, high-end interior.
As usual, the car is extremely safe. It has a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating, and got the highest ever rating, without a doubt this will be a big selling point. For families and older drivers safety is a particularly important factor.
Volvo V40 set to rake in the awards
Despite being less than a year old, the car has already begun to win awards. It has already won the 2012 Best Executive Hatch, at the Scottish Car of the Year awards. The reception from the motoring press and consumers has been very favorable indeed suggesting that the awards will pour in. Volvo has a good record of accomplishment when it comes to awards. In just two years, Volvo’s other new car, the XC60, won over 40 awards.
For Volvo dealers like William Lewis, this is good news. Every time a Volvo wins an award there is a fresh wave of interest from consumers. They are hoping that the new Volvo V40 will eclipse the old version, which was sold until 2004.
