Britain’s golf hotels are some of the finest in the world and so it is not surprising that one of them has been selected by UK Sport as the UK’s bidding venue to host the renowned Solheim Cup in 2015. Forest Pines Hotel, in North Lincolnshire, offers a 27 Hole Championship Golf Course and is recognised by many as one of the most beautiful courses in the country. The hotel itself has 188 bedrooms, three bars and restaurants, plus nine conference rooms, making it an ideal choice as the tournament venue.
What is the Solheim Cup?
The Solheim Cup is a prestigious golf tournament held every two years for women golfers and is contested by teams representing Europe and the United States. The tournament, which is often said to be the female equivalent of the Ryder Cup, has never been held in England and so will be a momentous occasion for the UK. If successful in its bid to host the tournament, Forest Pines will invest more than £500,000 into developing the golf course and establishing itself as a top venue for sport and culture. The hotel won’t find out until next year whether it has been successful in its bid to host the golfing contest.
The UK’s Golf Hotels
It is not just Forest Pines that is stunning in terms of its course and hotel, but there are hundreds of golf hotels all around the UK that offer quality golfing facilities and luxury accommodation. And, of course, they are not just for the professionals either. Many amateur golf players flock to the hotels, and they are growing increasing popular as a venue for business conferences – you’d be surprised how many business deals are done and dusted while out there on the golf course!
For the keen golfer, the convenience of staying in a dedicated golf hotel with a fantastic course in easy reach is simply ideal. They are even popular with non-golfers who can take advantage of the other facilities that are usually found on-site such as bars, high-quality restaurants and luxurious spas. Most golf hotels are also set alongside breath-taking countryside, allowing guests to explore the area and stretch their legs whilst their other half is out on the golf course!
